Our several visits to Domaine Lavie have always been truly relaxing and very enjoyable. The superb location, excellent accommodation and facilities all combine to make it just outstanding. The lovely Mary is a treasure; she works tirelessly to ensure her guests are well looked after, and nothing is too much trouble for her. Roger, the affable 'estate manager', is always busy doing something - often long after the sun has gone down - so property-wise everything is in tip top order. What a fantastic place! Thank you both for the many happy days we have spent at Domaine de Lavie.

Just spent a magnificent week in late August. The cottage is very well presented and equipped with dishwasher and washing machine. It felt just like home! The kids loved the pool with views over the rolling countryside. We found the location just about right. It was quiet and peaceful, a short distant to the local village and centrally located for visits to the coast, mountains and Spain. A car is essential. A big thank-you to Mary and Roger for being great hosts and advising us. Thoroughly recommend to anyone and will not hesitate coming back.

oh boy, it is not often something surpasses your expectations and you truly have the holiday you were hoping for but we managed it this year! I have no hesitatation in recommending Domaine-de-lavie, if you want to a have a perfectly relaxing time in beautiful surroundings with good hosts and lovely neighbours, look no further!

Thank you for a thoroughly relaxing holiday. The cottage is lovely - peaceful and comfortable. Thank you for your welcoming flowers, wine etc. they were very much appreciated as was your constant readiness to help in any way we needed it. The setting is beautiful - I am sure we will never get as good views from another pool. We have had some lovely and varied days out. We would definitely encourage friends to visit. Thank you.

A perfectly equipped and furnished gite set in wonderful surroundings. The pool was great especially with its amazing views. There is so much to see and do in the area that a week was not long enough. We would certainly have no hesitation in recommending this place to others.

Terrace Cottage, Domaine Lavie was the perfect little "bolt hole" for househunting in the Bearn! Real "home from home" could not have been more comfortable (and helpful). We are very sorry to be leaving!!Could stay forever....... We have seen the big birds in the mountains, gone underground in the "Grottes" enjoyed the beautiful beaches at Biarritz. Driven miles along amazing French roads on the "moto" for MANY miles. Mary and Roger are amazing hosts, their gites are so well equipped - outstanding views and facilities. Of ALL the places we have stayed, we are the sorriest to be leaving here.

This is by far the most comfortable and beautiful gite that we have yet experienced. Thanks to Mary and Roger. Our favourite excursions were to St. Jean de Luz, St. Jean Pied de Porte, Orthez and Lescun. My only regret is that I did not spend more time sitting by the pool or in the garden. First time stay in Orchard Cottage and it certainly lived up to the photos and description. Great holiday in a superbly equipped and decorated property. Pool and garden were lovely. Mary and Roger were wonderful hosts making us feel most welcome. Mary's eye for detail and quality certainly makes a great difference! We will return!

In our 15 years or so of doing 'gite' type holidays in France / Spain / Italy I have to say that the Domaine de Lavie is the most impressive of all the places we have stayed. The setting is magnificent - the grounds, the pool with a view - and the cottages are appointed to the highest standard. We would recommend the Domaine de Lavie without qualification.

Well, what can we say but WOW! We have had a fabulous week here. The weather has been kind to us and we have had the well earned rest we needed. What an amazing place we have stayed in here - it was heart-warming to find it looked exactly like it did in the brochure. The comfy sofas, log fire and dishwasher!! Places to visit if you get a chance: 1. La Rhune (called La petit train) a funicular train taking you 3,000ft up onto the Spanish/French border (east of St Jean de Luz) Stunning views. 2. Drives up into the Pyrenees - knee wobbling (never driven so slow - ever!) amazing views and of course.... 3. Any of the beaches down the Atlantic coast. We are already working out when we can next come. We will miss the peace and quiet and slow pace of life. Thank you Mary and Roger for being fabulous hosts. p.s. I apologise for all the spelling mistakes - a few glasses too many!!

Yes, we did bring good weather for the 4th time!! Arrived with temperatures in the 20's and leaving the same - a little cloudy in between! La concierge, Emma, was delightful as ever on her daily rounds (this is the dog!). Park Cottage was as comfortable and well appointed as Terrace and Orchard and once again we have had a lovely relaxing 2 weeks. We would hope to see you all again in the not too distant future.

Walks around Salies and its beautiful countryside, surfing at Hossegor, glitz in Biarrtiz – what more could one want? An amazingly tranquil two weeks in the most heavenly setting. We’ve stayed here now twice

The mountains are clearer
They look almost nearer
They’ve beckoned us to "Come on Over"!

So the views just as good
Though we’ve burned lots of wood

Now the South Wind doth blow
Though we’ve skied on the Snow.
We’re off to England where the weather’s less rosy!!

So with a tear in my eye
We now say goodbye
For the 2nd time in only a year.

We have stayed in many self-catering apartments and cottages, not only in France but throughout Europe but this is without doubt the best we have ever experienced. The facilities, both internally and externally are first class – a real home from home and all of this is topped by Mary and Roger who are welcoming and caring hosts. We would have not difficulty in urging our friends and acquaintances to visit Domaine de Lavie and hope ourselves to be able to return. Very many thanks, Mary and Roger.
